# LettersFinder

> Free English word-finding tools for three through eight letters, focused on a five letter word finder.

The tools match dictionary spellings to known positions, included letters, exclusions and letter-count rules. Included letters are minimum counts in any order; a letter rack limits the available copies of each letter, with ? representing one blank tile. For example, including ARE permits CRANE and STARE, but a rack of CRANE cannot supply STARE.

Pages contain a 72-word preview in the initial HTML. JavaScript loads the full dictionary for the selected length and filters locally in the browser. A preview is not a complete search; user-entered clues are not sent to a search API. Search fragments share a user's clues, not separate indexable landing pages.

The five-letter dictionary has 12,578 entries, including uncommon words and inflections. The word list comes from word-list 4.1.0. Definitions combine original editorial entries with a historical Webster dataset; not every word has a local meaning or a current sense.

Common first and Everyday use an editorial selection, not measured word frequency, official game eligibility or the probability of today's answer. Tile scores exclude board bonuses and blank-tile deductions. LettersFinder is independent of Wordle, Scrabble and their owners. Game-specific acceptance must be checked against that game's rules.
