RETAINS
One rack, several seven-letter arrangements
The seven letter word finder accepts a rack or a partial pattern. Enter RETAINS to find RETAINS, RETINAS, NASTIER, STAINER and ANTSIER. Every result uses one of each supplied letter. The typed order is irrelevant: NASTIER starts from the same rack. These are dictionary candidates, not a guarantee that every game accepts every form.
Add a known position when the board fixes a letter. Put R in box 1 to keep RETAINS and RETINAS while removing NASTIER. You can fill a middle position directly; there is no need to rewrite a pattern in a separate search box.
A rack is a supply, not just a hint
A longer rack is allowed, but each result uses only a seven-tile subset. BALLOON needs two L tiles and two O tiles; BALON has too few tiles. BALLO?N can use its blank as the missing O. A blank covers one tile, not an unlimited number of letters.
If your puzzle only says that A and R occur somewhere, leave the rack empty and use Include letters instead. Other letters remain unrestricted. The exact-position, included-letter and excluded-letter controls can be combined with or without a rack.
Compare candidates without hiding the long tail
Common first brings an editorial set of familiar words forward while retaining the complete match list. A–Z is useful when checking spellings. Tile score sorts by base English letter values; it excludes board multipliers, seven-tile bonuses and zero-point blanks.

Can I use the seven letter word finder with fewer than seven letters?
Yes, if they are partial clues rather than your entire supply of tiles. Leave the rack empty and use the position boxes or Include letters. A rack needs at least seven tiles, counting each ? as one blank. The two modes answer different questions: what fits the clues, versus what your tiles can actually make.
How do I represent a blank tile?
Use ? in the rack. Each question mark covers one missing letter, including an additional copy of a repeated letter.
Does the score include a seven-tile bonus?
No. It is the base sum of ordinary English letter values. Apply your game's blank values, bonuses and board rules separately.
Why does BALON fail to produce BALLOON?
BALLOON needs two Ls and two Os, but BALON supplies only one of each and has just five tiles. BALON?? can cover both missing copies. A known L position does not supply an extra tile; it only determines where one of your available Ls must go.
